As a member of the YD Monitoring Body, #AFRAA participated in the Inaugural Dispute Settlement Mechanism (DSM) Administrative Council meeting, held by the #AUC in collaboration with #UNECA from 25–27 June 2025 in Dakar, #Senegal. This meeting marked a bold step towards full implementation of #SAATM, laying the foundation for Annexe 3 – Regulations on the Dispute Settlement Mechanism under the Yamoussoukro Decision. #AFRAA was represented by Mr. Raphael Kuuchi, Consulting Director, Government Legal & Industry Affairs, and Mr. Daniel Moss, Manager - Government Legal & Industry Affairs. The launch marks a significant milestone for Kenya Airways, reaffirming the airline’s commitment to transparency and accountability in disclosing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance and impact. Key highlights include: ➡️ Economic Turnaround: First operating profit in 7 years (Ksh 5.4 billion)! Africa’s Next Flight: Modern Airline Retailing Unlocked. TPConnects Technologies and the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) have launched a comprehensive white paper. This insightful study explores the realities, challenges, and opportunities African airlines face as they modernise their distribution and retailing strategies. Key Insights: ➡️ Distribution cost reduction is the top priority for all surveyed airlines, with high GDS and intermediary fees cited as unsustainable. ➡️ NDC adoption is just beginning: Nearly half of airlines have no NDC capabilities, but a significant set of airlines are actively planning or implementing NDC. ➡️ Digital transformation is underway: While 60% of airlines still rely on on-premises systems, cloud migration and investment in digital retailing are on the rise. ➡️ Empowering agents and modernizing processes are critical for success, with training and collaboration seen as essential enablers.
